No one loves diving like we do! We are passionate divers who provide fun, safe, and educational tours around Iceland’s most breathtaking underwater scenery. With its hot springs, glaciers, and lava formations, the country maintains some of the most unique locations in the world. Our focus is on safety and comfort, and we only use high-quality, carefully curated and tested equipment specialized for the extreme arctic conditions.
Diving Island was founded by two close friends and local divers who decided to turn their dream of sharing their love for diving into a reality.
Héðinn is a PADI Open Water Scuba instructor and has been exploring Iceland’ underwater for the last 14 years. He has been an active member of Iceland’s diving club since 2003, and has served as a member of its board of directors. As a diver, Héðinn loves taking pictures of underwater sites and wildlife. He recently picked up freediving, and holds the national record of 140 meters in dynamic diving.
We use carefully selected, high-quality equipment suited for Iceland’s extreme conditions. Diving Island is currently the only diving center in Iceland that uses dry suits with a dry glove system to help ensure that your hands stay dry, for a warmer, more pleasant experience.
We use a line of equipment, including regulators, BCD fins, and masks from Poseidon, a Swedish company, founded in 1958 by Ingvar Elvstöm. Poseidon has pioneered an innovative product line for use in the rugged arctic conditions. These products focus on safety, while enhancing the diving experience. We are the approved Icelandic distributor of Poseidon products, and believe in their ethos that the equipment you take with you underwater, first and foremost, serves a life-preserving purpose.
We use Argonaut dry suits from Fourth Element. This dry suit has been developed specifically for some of the harshest diving conditions on the planet, while providing maximum comfort and enabling a wide range of movement. Beneath the dry suit, we offer a one-piece thermal layer produced by Fourth Element called Arctic Expedition, which is comprised of strategically layered, high-density fleece and other fabrics to maximize thermal protection, and was originally developed for NASA.
