The tour

Kleifarvatn dive

The hot springs of Lake Kleifarvatn in Krýsuvík are only a short, 30-minute drive from Reykjavík. The lake is nestled within a volcanic site with stunning landscapes, including lush green moss fields and ethereal lava formations. The lake itself is 10km2 and 97 meters deep. After a major earthquake on June 17, 2000, Iceland’s Independence Day, the lake lowered more than four meters. Fishing on the lake is common, and especially for trout.

Hot springs were recently discovered on the side of Lake Kleifarvatn, which emit from a large crater area at the lake’s bottom. Diving in this bubbly water provides a truly special experience and lets you get close to the elements. Sulphur gas bubbles and warm water burst up from the lake’s crater, and divers often feel vibrations from these releases. This is a unique diving experience that you won’t want to miss.
